Basic Terms

Wall thickness – measurement between the interior and exterior section of the pipe

Outside diameter – maximum diameter in the widest area of the pipe and is measured from the exterior sections

Straight between bends – if the pipe work requires more than one bend, the straight between bend must be defined from the end of the first bend to the beginning of the second bend

Central line radius – radius along the neutral axis of the pipe. This radius will remain fixed along the pipe bend or roll

Degree of bend – measured outside the bend
